Irois "Roy" Bourque
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irois (Roy) Bourque, 73, at the CHU Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont, on December 21, 2020. Born in Grand-Barachois, he was the son of Maurice and Lucilda (Léger) Bourque.
Irois was immensely proud of his family and enjoyed camping and visiting with them in his motor home or at his much-loved camp. He was a handyman who could fix anything and find a solution to any technical problem, redefining the term Macgyver. He was a great support to his wife's artistic endeavors and to friends and family in need of help. His positive attitude throughout his illness was very comforting to those who loved him and an inspiration to all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hélèna (Doiron) Bourque; two sons: Denis (Jessica) and Miguel (Amanda); four grandsons: Cody, Bradley, Mattéo and Maximin; four brothers: Victor (late Germaine), Arthur (Loretta), Joseph (Louise) and André (Maria) (late Rozella); six sisters: Claudette Gagnon (Edgar), Marie-Mai LeBlanc (Henri) (late Francis), Fernande Melanson (late Art) (late Jack), Jacinthe Brun (Ronald), Diane Thibodeau (Normand) and Roberte Landry (Paul); two sisters-in-law: Noëlla Bourque and Yvonne Bourque; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Ronald (late Maimie), Roger and Alcide; a niece, Janick Thibodeau; a nephew, Christian Brun; a great-nephew, Sébastien Léger and a nephew, Luc Bourque, who passed away a few hours after Irois.
As per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service but a celebration of Irois life will be held as soon as conditions allow.
In memory of Irois, a donation can be made to the CHU Dumont (Oncology Centre).
Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
