Stella Poirier
1921-2010
Stella Poirier, 89, of Moncton, passed away on Friday August 13, 2010
at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. Born on July 1, 1921 in
Saint-Philippe, NB, she was the daughter of the late Irenée and
Edmée (Arsenault) Cormier.
She was a housewife who loved to quilt, an avid dart player at the Golden Age Club and attended Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. Church.
She is survived by four daughters: Cécile (Léandre) Boucher of Saint-Philippe, Jeannine Ethier (late Arthur) of Lacolle, QC, Andréa Jones and Maryse Poirier, both of Moncton; one son: Guy (Christine) of Lacolle, QC; one sister: Alfreda Boucher (late Éloi) of Moncton; two brothers: Yvon Cormier (Jeannette) of Moncton and Gérard Cormier (Françoise) of Dieppe; her late husband’s family: Maria Tait, Marguerite Gallant, Yolande Morin, Yvonne Jenket, Léo-Paul and Paul-Émile Poirier; nine grandchildren: Debbie, Denise, Nancy, Jean-Pierre, Lisa, Chris, Angela, Maxime and Karine; nine great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Léonard (1983), one son, Ronald (1975), one brother, Raymond (2010) and one sister, Gloria (1936).
A special thank you to the third floor “A” and oncology departments at the hospital for their wonderful care.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette’s Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. Church (Murphy Avenue) on Monday August 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Saint-Philippe parish cemetery. In memory of Stella, a contribution to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation (Oncology) or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
